Lip balm is an essential part of every girl’s day. Whether
you’re out riding horses, working in an office, at school, or exercising, it’s
something that keeps your lips feeling fresh and ready for anything that comes
at them. I’ve tried probably well into
the 50’s of different types of lips balms. That’s why this is a bumper blog, because it’s going to be huge.
Firstly, the one I’m using at the moment: Yes to carrots in
‘Melon’. I’ve only had it for a little bit, but it’s fantastic! It smells
great, and it’s comfortable to use. It’s not a ‘hard’ gloss as such, that
chunks up on your lips, but it comes out soft and glides smoothly. It lasts a
long time because there’s more of it, giving you better value for money. I’m
really happy with how this one is going, and will most likely buy it again!

I have used Maybelline ‘baby lips’ in all 4 of their
flavours, numerous times over. It’s fantastic! It smells great, and is very
similar to the Yes to carrots one, but it does run out very fast. When you get
to the bottom of the ‘tube’ as such, the windy part gets loose and the balm
starts to wind itself up in your pocket, leaving a big mess in the top of the
cap. That’s the only negative comment I have about it though!

I have tried Chap Stick, in 3 different ‘flavours’ – but I
don’t really like them. Although they’re mostly SPF 30+ and great sounding,
I’ve found that they seem to make me lick my lips and feel thirsty and have a
dry mouth all the time. They are great if you are planning on going swimming
though, as they seem to have a good use time and stay on for hours.

I used to use The Body Shop’s ‘Hemp’ balm for a long time,
but only recently stopped using it because of the cost. It smells different to
usual balms, but I still like it. It goes on well but it also seems to come out
in chunks eventually, and melts after exposure to the smallest amount of heat.

I’ve also used The Body Shop’s lip butters and ‘born lippy’
which I loved both of them! The lip butter was great, but because it was white,
it left a white residue on the sides of my lips that I didn’t like. The ‘born
lippy’ is amazing, and I love it to death. They all smell great, but I don’t
use it anymore because the pot is too big to lug around, especially in small
pockets. It also melts up the sides and leaves it messy on hot summer’s days!

I’ve used the whole “Palmers” squidgy gel type ones. I don’t
particularly like gel, so I stopped using these. The top of the tube was
breaking consistently too and leaking gel everywhere! It also sticks to
everything and leaves mess. They do smell good though!

Finally, (I will stop now – although there’s heaps more!) I
have used Soft Lips. Pretty much the whole range! I love the smell of them, and
I love how they’re small to carry around. They glide on smoothly and make your lips
tingle! The only problem I had with them was winding up in my pockets, and
messing the cap over (although not regularly) and running out too quickly! They
only lasted me about a week and a half. (I use lots!)

Rituelle and MANY other brands, but unfortunately didn’t have enough room. You
