A Compilation of Redheadedness

If you're a redhead like me you probably know how hard it can be to get good makeup and hair products and tips. I hope this compilation of what I've found out or learnt myself.

This is based on my personal look, deep brown eyes, auburn hair and pale freckly skin. Feel free to use these tips and adjust them to suit yourself. I would love to hear about any suggestions, corrections or personal experience. Just leave a comment below.

TIPS:

#1 - EMBRACE THE FRECKLES!!! They are SO cute. I love freckles, they are so youthful and unique. I've never been one to try cover them up, thick makeup doesn't work for me. If you don't like your freckles though, I've found tinted moisturiser (preferably with in built sunscreen) is really good for evening out skin tones without going too dark or too thick.

#2 - Steer clear of pink. I'm not saying it is this huge no no. It is a very hard colour to wear. It increases the look of redness and if your skin is like mine it gets red and blotchy very easily. I often don't even wear blush because I can go so red so easily. But if you choose to wear blush or pinks just be careful of what shades you choose. I have read and heard in many forums and conversations that peaches and corals are very successful for the redheads complexion.

#3 - Choose your eyeshadow and mascara/eye liner shade carefully. I have dark brown eyes and for me I wear black mascara and eyeliner because the browns close in my eyes. Browns, greens, honeys, golds and other warm or neutral colours are a nice collection to have. I love using greens with a touch of purple to add a subtle oomph or peach or soft browns.

#4 - Skin Tone, Skin Tone, Skin Tone. Gold verses Silver, Yellow verses Pink. Skin tone effects the colours best suited to you. I'm a gold, warm person but I've been told I have cool skin but warm hair (no pun intended). This tip applies for everyone. Find out your colours and use them. Your colours affect the colour clothes you wear, the makeup you use and whether you should use a yellow or pink foundation. The wrong colours can make you look sick or washed out, the right colours will make just make you look good.

#5 - Blotchy redness and the fantastic green concealer. I love green concealers, they tone down redness and work so much better then concealers designed to hide pimples and blemishes.

#6 - No Competition! I love this tip! I found it at http://www.raising-redheads.com/makeup-tips.html while researching for this post. I love it! Don't compete. You're a redhead! Your hair is amazing! Why make your hair compete for the attention. It's like the 'Eyes or Lips' rule. Your hair already won by being a red so your makeup should compliment it not overpower it!

These are just 6 quick tips for redheads. If you want more detailed reasoning or tutorials using, just let me know and I'll put that together for you.

Stay Beautiful!
Lauren.
